Abstract

[This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]In 2002 the International Standards Organization replaced six earlier standards pertaining to quality and environmental management systems auditing with ISO 19011:2002, Guidelines on Quality and/or Environmental Management Systems Auditing. The standard was intended to apply to the full range of auditing situations, but emphasis is placed on external third-party audits and does not effectively address internal and supplier audit applications. ANSI/ASQ QE 19011S, the U.S. Supplement to ISO 19011:2002, provides additional guidance where the ISO text was deemed insufficient. The Supplement follows ISO style reflected in ISO 9004:2000.
