What Is Quincy?

Quincy is ASQ’s AI-powered large language model (LLM) assistant. Trained exclusively on ASQ’s proprietary content, Quincy helps ASQ members access instant answers and tailored solutions to their quality challenges. Think of Quincy as a 24/7 knowledge concierge, offering personalized responses and guidance developed from decades of ASQ resources.

What Does Quincy Know?

Quincy has ingested and trained on  ASQ’s extensive body of knowledge, including:

• Content from Quality Progress, Lean & Six Sigma Review and Six Sigma Forum Magazine, Quality Management Journal, and the Journal of Quality Technology.
• The archives of the Journal For Quality and Participation and Software Quality Professional.
• World Conference on Quality and Improvement proceedings.
• Dozens of Quality Press books,
  • Such as titles like The Quality Toolbox, 3rd ed. and The Leader's Playbook.
• Hundreds of ASQ website pages.
  • Like Quality Resources, Learn About Quality, and the Quality Glossary.

What Doesn’t Quincy Know?

While incredibly advanced, Quincy has limitations:

• It cannot access information outside of its training. For example, it cannot provide webinar links, specific author details, or event updates.
• Real-time learning is not possible; Quincy must retrain periodically to include new ASQ content.

Quincy works in tandem with ASQ’s website search, which can be used to supplement your information needs.

Why Didn’t Quincy Answer My Question?

There are several reasons why Quincy may not answer your question, including:

• You may not be logged in as an ASQ member. Membership is required for full access to Quincy.
  
  • Logged in nonmembers have trial access to Quincy and may ask a limited number of questions and receive summarized responses.
• Your query may fall outside Quincy’s training content. For such cases, ASQ's website search can help you explore additional tools and resources.
• Your request was unclear. An effectively crafted question or prompt ensures you will receive a response that meets your needs.  Review what you asked and make sure you:.
  • Use simple and direct language to reduce the likelihood of misunderstanding or misinterpretation.
  • Provide any pertinent context or background information. If you are looking for strategies or examples, for instance, be sure to state that. 
  • Provide feedback to Quincy to improve and build on responses—working with Quincy is iterative. 

What Makes Quincy Different From Other Generative AI Tools?

Unlike general AI tools, Quincy is trained exclusively on ASQ’s proprietary content, offering insights that are unavailable on public platforms. Quincy is an example of retrieval-augmented generation, which is a type of AI that combines information retrieval with the LLM. This allows Quincy to stand out by providing additional sources and references, enabling users to explore beyond just the responses. 

What If I Don’t Agree With Quincy’s Response?

Although Quincy has ingested a tremendous amount of content, it's not perfect. Quincy is constantly refining its capabilities. If a response doesn’t meet your expectations:

• Provide feedback directly within the platform by giving it a thumbs up or down.
• Share additional details about how Quincy’s response could improve, helping it learn and become more aligned with your needs.

What Languages Does Quincy know?

While Quincy’s primary language is English, it can translate and respond in many other languages. The following languages are supported: Afrikaans, Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Kazakh, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Marathi, Maori, Nepali, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Welsh. While Quincy will return results for languages not listed, the quality may not be as high.
