Abstract
Creating a comprehensive taxonomy takes time and requires analyzing how users organize information while building consensus among stakeholders. Although building a taxonomy can be challenging, ensuring content is correctly tagged is even more so. Despite advanced search capabilities, an effective taxonomy serves as a scaffold to aid technology in understanding the relationships between terms, topics, and domains, leading to superior results without extensive training. In this article, APQC examines how top-performing organizations dedicate resources to creating taxonomies that facilitate cross-functional knowledge discovery and cater to evolving business needs.
