Abstract
[PowerPoint presentation slides only]
The verification process determines if a product has been built right, while the validation process determines if the right product has been built. The economic motivation for detecting potential software defects is strong. There are several types of peer review that can help find defects early in development. Each has its place, but inspection is more effective than other forms of peer review. The key to using inspections effectively is knowing what to inspect and using a risk-based approach. Product and process data collected from inspections drives continuous process improvement.
