Abstract
Lean and kaizen activities within any organization must align with culture and operating requirements. A federal agency recognized the need to adjust traditional lean and continuous improvement processes to support an intensely interrupt-driven response mission. Ongoing senior management commitment was critical to the balance of staff assignments to integrate a culture of quality improvement (QI) into the daily operations of this complex organization.
