Abstract

[This abstract is based on the author's abstract.] Quality systems that conform to the various standards of ISO 9000 are used throughout industry, with both management and staff addressing internal audit and management issues. Inspection activities required by ISO 9001 are equally important to the total quality system as contract reviews and design controls. ISO 9001 requires a variety of activities associated with receiving, in-process, and final inspection. The article discusses documentation required by the standard for inspection activities, and nonconformances resulting directly from inspection are included. The new release of ISO 9001 is expected during the fourth quarter of 2000. The revision is likely to have an impact on inspection activities.
