Abstract
[This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]Software quality engineering is proposed as an overall engineering solution to the quality challenge facing many software development organizations. Existing quality assurance activities are expanded to include quality-planning activities that set goals and form an overall strategy and other techniques that help improve software quality in a quantifiable way. Techniques, models, and procedures are presented and illustrated by various examples. The integration of these methods into software development is discussed.
