Abstract

[This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]

This study demonstrates improvement in consistency of automobile part colors, specifically colored car bumpers. A spectrocolorimeter and color samples were used to improve color consistency. Significant parameters affecting color were identified, such as light reflection and paint thickness, and process settings were optimized through design of experiments. Further improvements in color consistency and defect reduction were achieved through correlation studies.
