Abstract
Distinct from capital, structure, management, and skills related to a workplace, the inner workplace reflects personal qualities and state of mind, peoples motivations, creativity, effort, and engagement. These individual qualities affect team performance, but are omitted in the traditional performance chain model. E-factors which enhance team engagementalignment, synergy, growth, and fulfillmentare vital contributors to business results. Sources of team energy, these e-factors are enhanced by team or organizational direction, relationships, opportunities for renewal and growth, and reward. Work teams can apply this model, engaging in self-diagnosis, identifying strengths and opportunities, setting goals, creating an improvement plan, and continuously monitoring team energy and improvement. Elaboration on the team diagnosis process and a case study are offered.
