Abstract

Industry 4.0 has created a new environment for quality, and Quality 4.0 is the result.  The storm of technology uptake accompanying Industry 4.0—which ostensibly incorporates quality—has perhaps obscured individual businesses' central functions.  Businesses need to focus on the right technology unique to their situations, incorporating solutions that contribute rather than sap.  For a British train operating company, the migration from its former system required first understanding where data could be captured from and where technologies could be applied to its normal operations.
