Abstract
Taking the reins as a quality manager involves not only getting a handle on the technical aspects of the job, but also managing the expectations of stakeholders and the people you will manage. The author offers up five steps new managers should take to build a strong foundation and set themselves up for success. This includes learning the organization and its culture, building relationships, baselining the state of quality, identifying opportunities for improvement and developing an action plan.
