Abstract

The emergence of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models has ushered in a new era of disruption, and raised new challenges for organizational leadership. ISO/IEC 42001:2023—Information technology—artificial intelligence—management system was created to help address those challenges. This article shares insights on the overall AI standardization initiative, explains the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 requirements, and provides guidance for leadership on how best to prepare AI management systems for audit and certification.
