Abstract
A supplier corrective action request (SCAR) document is used to communicate with a supplier the details about a nonconformity that may affect a product or process. Five phases are required to complete a SCAR successfully: the SCAR entry, containment, root cause corrective action, implementation, and effectiveness and closure. Essentially, incorporating appropriate SCAR processes can ensure the supplier has established effective long-term corrective actions. After all, SCAR resolution requires that the supplier correct the issue and document how it will prevent the error from recurring.
