Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies is reshaping how healthcare is delivered. Human-centered care still is a cornerstone of effective healthcare, however. These AI tools are best positioned as augmentative rather than replacement technologies. AI can enhance human capabilities by automating routine or repetitive tasks so clinicians can focus on the more complex and human-centered aspects of care. The integration of AI into clinical workflows must be done thoughtfully, ensuring it supports rather than supplants the human elements of compassionate care.
