Abstract

Mitigating the environmental impact of a business can become part of that business, but it can be difficult to manage the conflicting priorities resulting from endeavoring to preserve the environment. Costly environmental action plans might sunder the bottom line, themselves consuming potentially scarce resources. By dovetailing environmental action initiatives with existing quality endeavors, an organization is effectively putting the desire for change together with the means for it and into the hands most capable of creating the plan for its integration. Quality management's eight wastes, for example, is a perfect destination for environmental concerns.
