Abstract

ISO 14001:2026, the international standard for environmental management systems, was published in April. This latest revision strengthens understanding of the standard’s requirements and helps organizations integrate environmental management more effectively into strategic decision making and operational planning. The changes also reinforce broader environmental stewardship beyond climate change, introduce more explicit change management expectations, and improve alignment with other management system standards by adopting and adapting the International Organization for Standardization’s harmonized structure.
