Abstract
In an interview held at the ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement in Seattle this year, quality pioneer Armand V. Feigenbaum shared his views on the current status and future of quality. Feigenbaum notes that quality has always been a cyclic field with considerable career growth opportunities. Reflecting on recent quality trends, he notes that quality is no longer about defect reduction, but focuses on value enhancement. Today's customer buys in terms of value. Feigenbaum advises those entering the quality field to be articulate with senior management and to see innovation as something that enhances the profitability and growth of the company.
