Abstract
In nonmanufacturing environments, quality has not had the impact that it has had in production environments because the input, process, output equation is less visible and more difficult to measure. In today's competitive environment, consistently high performance among white-collar teams is critical to maintaining competitive advantage. These teams must be aligned with the organization's strategic and operational goals and the responsibilities, protocols and interpersonal relationships of the team. Quality professionals must realize that effective problem solving and decision making, efficient project management and innovation are valid measures of quality that can help quality initiatives succeed in a white-collar environment.
