Abstract
Women in the workforce face a variety of challenges that affect their career growth: gender bias, racial bias, higher performance standards, lack of support and sponsorship and peer pressure—being the only woman in a group of men and more likely to experience comments about appearance. There are strategies that can help overcome this gender disparity. Organizations can establish leadership training and coaching opportunities for all races and genders. In addition to making mental health counseling more accessible, reinforcing behavioral changes and fostering a culture that supports diversity, like still allowing a work-from-home model, makes it possible for women to be able to move up and work in managerial positions.
