Abstract

Lean and Six Sigma may be two different methodologies, but they work toward the same goal of improvement. Both are based on the plan-do-check-act cycle and both strive for very low rates of defects (though lean aims for zero defects). The differences between the two strategies are numerous and both have developed from different areas in the world. This results in a difference in the foundation and philosophy behind each.
