The Richard A. Freund International Scholarship

Scope:

The Richard A. Freund International Scholarship is established in honor of Richard A. Freund, a former president of ASQ. This scholarship supports graduate studies in the theory and application of quality control, quality assurance, quality improvement, and total quality management. It focuses on the engineering, statistical, managerial, and behavioral foundations of these fields. 

Funds:

A gift of $100,000 was made to ASQ by Mrs. Richard A. Freund to fund this scholarship, which will be administered annually by ASQ. The scholarship award is announced by July 1 each year, with a value of $5,000 for the annual award.

 
Key Details:

  • Application Deadline: The annual deadline for applications is April 1.
  • Study Location: Studies may take place either in the applicant’s home country or abroad.
  • ASQ Membership: Applicants are not required to be ASQ members.
  • Eligibility: Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.25 (both undergraduate and graduate levels).
  • Field of Study: Applicants must focus their studies on quality control, quality assurance, quality improvement, total quality management, or a related field with an emphasis on quality.

  • Eligibility Review: ASQ staff is unable to review or predetermine whether an applicant meets the scholarship requirements. It is the applicant’s responsibility to carefully review the eligibility criteria and ensure all required documentation is included in the application.
