Professional Experience

Rama Shankar has over 35 years of experience in a variety of industries, which includes aerospace, automotive, OEM, discrete manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and medical devices. She has worked in many disciplines in the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering fields which includes expertise in application of QMS standards to ISO, AS and Medical Devices; Problem Solving, Lean Six Sigma applications and mentoring projects.

 

Rama started her career with a company involved in setting up turnkey projects such as steel mills, railroads and steel bridges on site. From there she moved into other industry sectors, and has been in the consulting field since 1998. She has mentored / coached over 170 projects with a total savings audited (after project completion) of $286,247,258. Projects were from different disciplines such as Operations, Marketing, R&D, Supply chain, and Finance.  She also assisted with developing, editing and delivering training courses for Lean, ISO, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Supplier Quality, and Certification exam preparation. 

 

Rama received Lean training under NIST, Principal Auditor certification with Exemplar Global and has led the internal audits of many quality systems in a variety of industries. She has also established Quality Management Systems in multiple organizations to ISO 9000, QS 9000, AS 9000. Rama has served on the board of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Chicago Section in various capacities, she was the Chair 1999 – 2000; Section Director; Training Institute Director, ASQ Chicago Section and Regional Councilor, Quality Management Division.

 

Her philosophy to training is to light a spark of curiosity in the students that will lead them to discover the joy of learning through self-discovery and thereby enable them to make the workplace better.
