Root Cause Analysis Specialized Credential

Course ID SPSCRCA2026ASQ
Format E-Learning

For individuals:

  • Advance your career: Strengthen your ability to solve complex problems and build skills that employers value across quality, operations, and continuous improvement roles.
  • Demonstrate your expertise: Earn a third-party digital badge that validates your knowledge of root cause analysis and your ability to apply structured problem-solving methods.
  • Apply what you learn immediately: Gain practical tools and techniques you can use right away to investigate issues and support effective corrective actions.
  • Support your professional growth: Earn recertification units that contribute toward ASQ certification maintenance and ongoing professional development
For organizations:
  • Reduce recurring problems: When root causes are not identified, the same failures continue to disrupt operations. Strengthen investigations so corrective actions address the true cause rather than temporary symptoms.
  • Improve operational performance: Use structured, evidence-based analysis to uncover process breakdowns, reduce variation, and prevent costly defects and incidents.
  • Create a consistent problem-solving approach: Equip teams with a common framework and language for investigating issues, improving collaboration and decision-making across functions.
  • Ensure corrective actions are effective: Strengthen accountability by linking root cause analysis to corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), verification of effectiveness, and sustainable improvements.

ASQ’s Root Cause Analysis Specialized Credential learning experience helps professionals develop the practical skills needed to identify, investigate, and resolve the underlying causes of recurring problems. Instead of addressing symptoms, this credential focuses on building the capability to clearly define problems, gather and evaluate evidence, and apply structured root cause analysis methods that lead to effective solutions.

Through this learning experience, you will strengthen your ability to analyze failures, defects, incidents, and process breakdowns using proven RCA tools and data driven thinking. You will learn how to connect identified causes to corrective and preventive actions, helping ensure that improvements address the true source of the problem and reduce the likelihood of recurrence.

Organizations place high value on professionals who can investigate issues objectively, guide teams through structured analysis, and support decisions with evidence. By earning this credential, you demonstrate your ability to contribute to stronger problem solving, improved operational performance, and more reliable processes.

This credential helps you build credibility as a professional who can move beyond quick fixes and drive sustainable improvements. The learning experience supports your ability to facilitate investigations, collaborate with cross functional teams, and verify that corrective actions are effective and sustained over time.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to take a practice test at the end of the e-learning to test your knowledge and prepare for the online Specialized Credential Exam.

Once you have completed the e-learning, you can move on to take the Root Cause Analysis Specialized Credential Exam. The online exam is open book and comprised of sixty (60) multiple-choice questions. You must achieve a score of 70% or higher to receive the Digital Quality Specialized Credential.

Note: Retake exams are available at a discounted rate of $99 through repurchase of the product.
