Professional Experience
Joe Basala, ASQ Fellow, has over 25 years of experience in service, manufacturing, and engineering quality. His focus is on continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma. Joe has provided Lean Six Sigma-related training and coaching to individuals and teams from more than 150 different companies and to more than 1,500 individuals representing industries such as: aerospace, automotive, banking/finance, beverage, chemical, distribution services, software/IT, and numerous general service and manufacturing organizations. His work has included Six Sigma projects, Lean Six Sigma projects, work-out events, and kaizen events. Joe is also the author of The Yellow Belt Memory JoggerTM.
As a Continuous Improvement Manager for an aerospace industry company, he leads, coaches, and provides project management support for site level projects. Joe also coaches Six Sigma projects and leads kaizen events. Additionally, Joe provides functional support to various departments in the organization with guidance on visual performance management boards, improvement projects, and misc. continuous improvement support.
In a previous role for a company in the agricultural and construction equipment industry, he served as the Continuous Improvement Technical Leader (Master Black Belt). In that assignment, Joe provided technical guidance worldwide to the Champions and Black Belts on topics such as project selection, process methodology, and proper use of the various statistical and quality tools.
Joe is a past chair of ASQ’s Six Sigma Forum Leadership Council. He is also a member of the Editorial Review Board for ASQ’s Lean and Six Sigma Review Magazine. Additionally, he has been a member of the Technical Program Committee for ASQ’s World Conference on Quality and Improvement, and the Leadership Committee for ASQ’s Lean and Six Sigma Conference. Joe also assists ASQ with training material development and has been part of ASQ’s Six Sigma Faculty since 2003.
