ASQ Announces Sale of Shares in ANAB to ANSI
Milwaukee, Wis., Dec. 4, 2018 — The American Society for Quality (ASQ) has signed an agreement to sell its share of ownership in the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board, LLC (ANAB). The transaction with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is scheduled to close on December 28, 2018.
ANAB has been owned equally by ANSI and ASQ since 2005. The purchase will result in ANAB becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of ANSI, registered as a separate legal entity, and renamed the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
While ANSI and ANAB will continue business as usual in the near term, ANSI intends to move its accreditation of conformity assessment bodies into ANAB under the auspices of ANSI ownership, creating a single entity to lead accreditation services.
“We are confident this transition will allow ASQ greater focus on our core business priorities and opportunities to enhance the impact and value we strive to deliver to members and customers,” said William Troy, ASQ CEO.
