AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR QUALITY COOKIE POLICY
EFFECTIVE: April 15, 2025
Like many companies, the American Society for Quality (“ASQ” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses Cookies and other similar tracking technologies on our website. This Cookie Policy describes ASQ’s use of Cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies on its website ("Site").
This Cookie Policy is part of ASQ’s Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy") found at https://asq.org/privacy-policy. Capitalized terms not defined in this Cookie Policy have the meanings set forth in the Privacy Policy.
We may change this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Cookies we use and how we use them. A banner on our Site will remind you to review our Cookie Policy.
What are Cookies? How Do We Use Technology in the Services?
A cookie is a small text file that is saved onto your device when you use our Site. A cookie can either be a "session" cookie or a "persistent" cookie. Session cookies exist only for so long as you are visiting the website and are typically deleted when you exit your web browser. Each time you visit a website that has implemented a persistent cookie, the persistent cookie is renewed, and that cookie will remain active until its predetermined expiration date.
Cookies set by us, the website operator, are called "first-party cookies". Cookies set by our third-party partners are called "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through our Site (e.g. like advertising, interactive content and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your device when it visits our Site and may also recognize your device when you visit other websites utilizing that third-party’s services.
What About Other Tracking Technologies?
Cookies are not the only technology used on our Site. We may use other similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons or tracking pixels (together with cookies, “Cookies”). These are tiny graphic files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has visited our Site in the past. In many instances, these technologies are reliant on Cookies to function properly, and so declining Cookies will impair their function.
How Do We Use Cookies and Tracking Technologies on Our Site?
Cookies allow us to collect technical and navigational information, such as browser type, operating system, keystrokes and mouse clicks, time spent on our Site and pages you visited, among other information. We may place Cookies or similar files on your device for security purposes, to tell us whether you have visited our Site before, to remember your language preferences, to facilitate site navigation, to understand whether you have come to our Site from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to serve you with personalized advertising, to improve the performance of our Site, or to personalize your experience on our Site. Cookies also allow us to select which of our advertisements or offers are most likely to appeal to you and display them to you. Cookies may enhance your online experience by saving your preferences while you are visiting a website.
We use analytics services and targeted advertising Cookies in addition to location features on our Site to automatically collect information used to improve the Services and to advertise to you. Below are some of the analytics and targeted advertising tools we use:
A. Analytics Tools
We use third-party software tools on our Site to learn more about how visitors navigate the Site and view content. These third-party analytics providers provide use with analytical information collected through their Cookies that we use to improve the Site, to make sure it is easy to use, and to develop content that is both interesting and customized.
- Google Analytics and Google Advertising Features. We may use Google Analytics to collect and process information about your use of the Website. Google sets Cookies on your browser or device, and then your web browser will automatically send information to Google. We have enabled and implemented the following Google Analytics Advertising Features: Google Tag, Google Marketing Platform, Google Analytics with Signals, and Google Dynamic Remarketing. To prevent your information from being used by Google Analytics and its advertising features, follow the instructions to download and install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on for each web browser you use. Using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on will not prevent us from using other analytics tools and will not prevent data from being sent to the Website itself or to Google. Opting out will not affect your use of the Website. For more information on how Google uses Personal Information, visit Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s page on How Google uses data when you use our partners’ websites or apps. - Session Replay: Hotjar. How Can You Manage Your Cookies?
- Adjust Your Cookie Settings on the Site
You can choose to accept or decline most Cookies. Please be aware that if you disable or reject certain types of Cookies, some features and services may not work properly. - Disabling Cookies on Your Browsers
Most browsers automatically accept Cookies. You can disable this function by changing your browser settings, but disabling Cookies may impact your use and enjoyment of the Site. You can learn more about Cookies, including how to see what Cookies have been uploaded to your device and how to manage and delete them, by visiting All About Cookies. - Changing Your Preferences

On your mobile device, you may have features that allow you to opt out of some targeted advertising (“Limit Ad Tracking” on iOS devices or “Opt out of Interest-Based Ads” on Android). To learn more about how these opt-out features work, please review your device settings. Even if you disable the tracking, keep in mind that you may still receive interest-based advertising, including from third parties with whom your information has been previously disclosed. You may also still receive generic advertisements from third parties that are not based on your interests and preferences.
