Professional Experience

I help manufacturing sites build, simplify and improve their management systems so they can focus on achieving their primary objectives.

I spent 20 + years working in and with manufacturing companies across the United States and Europe. I learned to apply quality principles as a 20+-year veteran of the US Coast Guard. I suffered the pains of failing to meet goals and objectives, and (I am grateful to say) learned many different techniques, quality tools, and performance models that are easy to perform and yield lasting results.

I found most sites have complicated their systems so that instead of using them to manage their environmental or quality goals, they struggle with just keeping systems maintained. Instead of wasting the minimal level of energy and resources they have on maintaining old systems, all they really need to do is simplify the system structures and develop an understanding of how the international models work to move companies to a world-class status. They often fall into old patterns of behaviors that have yielded poor results because they don’t understand how to implement options that are presented in generic packages without the customization support they need.

By applying a SIMPLE formula to any management system and using training methods that focus on building skills required to make these systems a success, I partner with manufacturing sites in eliminating waste, in resetting their system, and in building support processes to create better outcomes in shorter time.

My first exposure to the standards and their successful implementation began with the first version of ISO 9000. Challenged to “make it happen” with no background, no training, just the demand to make it a success, I’ve experienced how the standard has evolved, along with the companies I’ve seen use it to their advantage.
