Q: A member of our section has passed away. What do you have in the ASQ Library that pertains to his/her history and activities with ASQ?

A: The short answer: Probably not.

In the last week, the ASQ Library (also known as the Quality Information Center) has received three requests for information regarding individual members.

For the most part, the Library doesn't contain historical information concerning an individual member’s ASQ activities.

At best, we can perform a search to determine if the member authored any articles or books for ASQ. Likewise, the Library doesn't house histories for any member units.

Recently, ASQ closed the ASQ Archives previously held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The materials from that archive have been returned to ASQ. The boxes are labeled and indexed, but searches are no longer being performed.
