Abstract:National Semiconductor Corporation is a process-driven manufacturer looking for additional ways to cut costs. Having experienced dissatisfaction with an earlier continuous improvement program, it became clear that reducing costs while maintaining product quality was a goal calling for a Six Sigma effort. National's Singapore plant was ideally situated because it had Six Sigma experience and software to ensure projects would run smoothly. The six-member team was successful because it followed the DMAIC roadmap.
