This course is designed to provide a broad understanding of the Six Sigma concepts including basic Statistical Process Control Charts. It provides overall process and basic process improvement tools. The Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control methodology is presented with case studies and examples drawn from service, business process, and medical device manufacturing applications. The course focuses on process improvement found in healthcare industries, including facility operations, insurance, and financial administration. The service-oriented content provides a transactional context for the instruction. A third of your time will be spent working through interactive practice exercises and online assessments. This course is multimedia. All course content is available on demand (asynchronous format). Java-based media delivery is employed to consume minimal bandwidth, and is not blocked by most firewalls. You will have 90 days to access this course.

- Understand the benefits and implications of a Six Sigma program, and relate Six Sigma concepts to the overall business mission and objectives.

- Use the concept of a Sigma Level to evaluate the capability of a process or organization.
- Recognize the five-step D-M-A-I-C model used to improve processes.
- Recognize the organizational factors that are necessary groundwork for a successful Six Sigma program.
- Apply the following basic process improvement tools within the Six Sigma DMAIC improvement model: project charter, process map, thought process map, affinity diagram, CTQC tree diagram, Pareto chart, trend chart, XmR control chart, histogram, fishbone diagram, 5-why analysis, scatter plots, FMEA, benchmarking, brainstorming, error-proofing, corrective action matrix, documented process changes, and control plan.

Join a Test Session

Deactivate Pop-up Blockers
You should deactivate any pop-up blockers, spam filters, and company firewalls that could prevent the WebEx client platform or web-based course from working properly. Third-party toolbars such as Bing, Yahoo, and Google should also be disabled due to their own pop-up blocking capabilities.
