Professional Experience

Evan Doughty has over 40 years of experience in all areas of Calibration and Testing. This includes not only technical requirements but also the implementation of quality management systems and the audit, assessment and international peer evaluation of these programs. He is a recognized expert in the application of ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020 programs. He is also an instructor for these programs and has given many lectures on these and other topics to highly recognized groups such as CQSDI, the Collaboration on Quality in the Space and Defense Industries and NCSL, the National Conference of Standards Laboratories.

His career began in calibration during his 20 years in the U.S. Navy where he managed both military and civilian (standards) calibration laboratories. Following his military career he worked for 15 years at various commercial calibration companies as a technician, supervisor, manager, branch manager, and finally as the corporate Quality Manager managing the quality, ISO 9001 certification and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation of 33 laboratories. Additionally he was a Nuclear Industry Assessment Committee (NIAC) member for six years.

 

Mr. Doughty presently is an Accreditation Manager at ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board. Other than day to day management of accreditation assessments he is a Lead Instructor for training courses and assessor of ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020 accredited Conformance Assessment Bodies. He is the representative for the U.S. to IAAC, the Inter American Accreditation Co-operation and a Peer Evaluator for the evaluation of Accreditation Bodies to ISO/IEC 17011. He is currently on the ISO/CASCO WG44 committee for the review and revision of ISO/IEC 17025 as well as NCSLI committees for 146 Accreditation Resources, 171 Calibration Resources, and 174 Standards Writing (Z540) and was on the committee that wrote and published RP-21, NCSLI Recommended practice for the Assessment of ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006 Sub-clause 5.3.

 

He is fully trained as an ANAB ISO/IEC 17025 Lead Assessor, RAB ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, LMJ NQA-1 Lead Auditor, as well as ISO/IEC 17025 Quality System instruction and Measurement Uncertainty instruction.
