AQP Connections
25th AQP Annual Conference
Final preparations are under way for this
year’s conference, Jazz-Up Your
Organization’s Performance Through Teamwork,
Quality, and Integrity, which will be held in New
Orleans, February 24-26. Registrations for this
year’s exciting roster of preconference
workshops, learning sessions, and alternate courses
is far ahead of recent years—three times the
level at this point in 2002. Complete conference
information is available at www.aqp.org .
The keynote speaker at Monday’s opening
session will be Herman Cain, who will discuss why
“Leadership is Common Sense.” Cain is
chairman of Godfather’s Pizza, Inc., and he has
authored three books: CEO of Self, You’re in
Charge; Speak as a Leader; and Leadership is
Common Sense.
Coach Herman Boone and Coach Bill Yoast will speak
on “Teamwork, Leadership, and Diversity”
during Wednesday’s keynote address. The
real-life story of these heroes inspired the hit
movie “Remember the Titans.”
Preconference workshops feature the following
topics and instructors:
- Teams Make Six Sigma Work will be led by
Patricia Noonan and Nancy Page Cooper. The next
evolution of a team environment involves their
participation in achieving a Six Sigma culture.
This workshop demonstrates how to incorporate key
team achievements of the past with newer trends and
technologies.
- Building Team Trust Using Emotional
Intelligence Techniques will be presented by
Adele Lynn. Learn the fundamentals of how to build
trust in a team environment by using interactive
exercises in emotional intelligence.
- Edward Deevy will instruct participants on
Getting the Whole Organization Engaged in the
Business: A How-To Workshop for Managers, HR
Professionals, and Consultants.
- Judith Honesty will share insights on
Inspiring Trust and Action Through Authentic
Leadership. Every person needs to move others
to action at some time whether or not he/she is
formally in a leadership position. This workshop
presents three core principles and a pragmatic
communications template for inspiring the
commitment of employees, customers, or anyone else
on whom you depend.

number of the sponsoring member. More information is
available by calling 513-381-1979 or at www.aqp.org .
Profile Describes Typical AQP Member
Information obtained from current AQP members was
compiled to develop an overall profile. Although
there probably aren’t many members who have the
exact combination of attributes indicated by the top
responses in each category, it’s interesting to
see what characteristics our members share. The
tables below include the primary findings (but
attributes in each table may not total 100%).
