Change and Improvement: Guidelines for Action When the System Resists 1996 Youden Address
Abstract: Any aspect of life can be regarded as a system. I will look at three systems to point out where improvements are needed. In the world-wide system, a major problem is population growth. In the nationwide system, a major problem is the decrease in how employers value and respect their employees. In the system of the statistics profession, a major problem is the lack of recognition, respect, and the low impact of statisticians, and the declining enrollments in statistics departments.
