Abstract

Software quality activities, particularly design and peer review, are often limited for short-term gain. This, however, can vastly increase long- or middle-term costs. The Team Software Process (TSP) shows the long-term benefits of spending resources in the short term on quality measures. The TSP cost and quality model quantifies the value of quality activities for stakeholders, which in the experience fo the TSP team increases the commitment of developers and managers to quality measures. An example of a simple implementation of the TSP model and discussion of its use in multiple scenarios are included.
