Abstract

Especially regarding safety, only organizational culture change can amend a bad or middling trajectory. When employees are not heeding safety considerations, the overwhelming probability is that management and officers are ignoring their responsibility to emphasize workplace safety. The culture change must happen from the top down, with 75% of management accepting it before it can succeed and thereafter setting the standard and example; but the secret to finding safety issues lies in seeing the organization through the employees' eyes. Management always should be prepared to listen to employee insights and pave the way for employees to comfortably share their observations and concerns when it comes to safety.
