Abstract

Using define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC) in combination with failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is an effective approach to solving reliability issues. A cross-functional team should be assembled, and the DMAIC method should be followed to achieve successful results. By incorporating FMEA in the analysis phase, it is possible to define the problem and track the FMEA’s effectiveness during the control phase. The outlined steps provide a clear framework for implementing this approach and achieving significant improvements in reliability.
