Abstract
This case study describes how process failure mode and effects analysis was used to improve the raw material procurement and machining processes involved in the manufacturing of dental implants. Ranking criteria for severity, occurrence, and detection to calculate risk priority number also was proposed. Three potential failure modes were highlighted in increasing order of risk—namely, the procurement of an incorrect grade of titanium rods, damaged rods during transportation, and the dimensional nonconformance of the rods after machining, respectively— along with their corrective and preventive actions
