Abstract
Understanding the difference between a “population” and a “sample” is critical when planning a statistical study. A population can be defined as “the set of all items of interest in a statistical problem,” and a sample as “a set of data drawn from the population.” The concept sounds simple enough, but where does a population begin and end?
