Abstract
The reality of climate change and its devastating effects have been known for decades. Scientists and climate diplomats have been meeting regularly since the mid-1990s to understand the effects and negotiate solutions. The economic effects of climate change can be measured today and will continue to worsen unless Earth’s inhabitants change course and dramatically reduce anthropogenic (human-induced) emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. In this context, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has developed ISO 14068—Greenhouse gas management and climate change management and related activities—carbon neutrality.
