Abstract
Employee retention is important. The cost of losing competent employees includes not only the investment in finding, onboarding and training new employees, but it also comes with the risk of losing knowledge that may lead to interruptions in your business processes. While ISO 9001 does not address the needs of the people doing the work, it does establish that “top management shall demonstrate leadership and commitment by … engaging, directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system.” What you do to support your employees may be one of the most important questions to ask during the next internal audit.
