Abstract
The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) implemented a new clinical information system (CIS) that required every medication distributed by the UAH pharmacy to be barcoded. The CIS project team established a barcoding area to print and attach barcode labels to medications, but within a week after the CIS launch, products became backlogged. To resolve the issue, the hospital assembled a team to conduct a team walk to identify key challenges and recommend potential next steps.
