Abstract

Quality control plays a big part in supply chains to ensure a product meets customer requirements and expectations. The most vital quality control takes place at the source of manufacturing, which for supply chains often means at the raw material procurement stage. Purchasing departments will often look for materials that fall within the accepted parameters for physical description, dimensional measurements, chemical composition, and performance specifications. However, in the Quality 4.0 world, these practices can become dated and lead to a loss in quality over time.
