Abstract
To justify the use of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and make it truly a value-added activity, a sufficient amount of data is required. When there’s a lack of data, calculating the risk priority number can be challenging. Instead of performing a traditional, full-fledged FMEA, there’s a simpler risk analysis called FMEA-lite that can be used when conditions don’t support a thorough, deep-level risk assessment. This approach involves entering results to the FMEA form without necessarily using all fields, and switching back to traditional FMEA practices for post-action risk assessment.
