Abstract

Looking for a way to reduce hospital infections, a Georgia health system injected ISO 9001:2015 into its operations after it had become Det Norske Veritas-accredited. The two-pronged approach involved better knowledge sharing, as well as measurement tactics for enhanced decision making. In particular, a difference maker in the improvement project was that ISO 9001:2015 was a data driven, customer-focused tool that garnered the support and attention of top leaders.
