Abstract
The combined use of simple lean/Six Sigma tools has enabled Wausau Window and Wall Systems in Wisconsin to benefit customers and shareholders by trimming costs and improving cycle times. The method uses fact based analytical tools and methodologies that permit the company to generate greater value for customers. Use of lean/Six Sigma tools promotes an environment of continuous improvement as more project ideas are generated and more employees become involved in project teams. Productivity at one of Wausau's plants has increased by 28 percent. Financial and cultural benefits continue to accrue as the result of Wausau's investment in lean/Six Sigma tools.
