Calcasieu Parish’s Quality Site Visit Process
Abstract: Two of the presenters scheduled at this year’s NQEC wrote corresponding articles for this issue. Two quality mentors from Calcasieu Parish Public Schools in Lake Charles, LA—which has a large minority and disadvantaged student population—wrote about how they took the question “How can we gather measurable data to know the level of quality implementation at every school in our district?” and ran with it to improve their operations. During the course of two years, the mentors visited each of the district’s 60 schools and hosted workshops for quality leadership teams to explain the district’s site-visit rubric, site-visit calendar, purpose and expectations. They also held additional workshops and an online Blackboard course.
