Teaching Students in Cohort Groups

Abstract: A former dean and provost shares his experiences and describes teaching graduate students in a cohort setting. He writes that because these students are in the middle of their careers, teaching cohort students is different from any teaching he had done before. These students are professional colleagues—some are faculty and others are administrators. He discovered that perhaps the most striking thing about the students—aside from their hard work—was their trust and respect for each other.
