Quality in the Era of Data-driven Digital Disruption

The 2019 Summit concludes with a closing address from ASQ past chair Elmer Corbin, who looks back on transformative moments in his career at IBM and reveals the vital role quality played in fostering innovation and tapping into the transformative facets of digital disruption. Attendees will better understand their own progress on the Quality 4.0 journey and appreciate how to convert lessons learned at the Summit to a sustainable, enterprise-wide strategy.

Corbin serves as head of cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions delivery for the IBM Watson Health business unit. Throughout his career at IBM, he has served in a wide variety of major technical, business, and executive leadership roles, including leading a business unit of over 700 employees responsible for the development of the IBM BlueGene/L supercomputer and the core processor technology that helped all three leading video game console companies revolutionize the home entertainment market.

Prior to his current role, he was IBM’s corporate quality executive, leading enterprise transformation of the global quality management system and created an innovative analytics framework to provide insights on ways to improve the quality of the end-to-end experience customers have with IBM. Corbin’s leadership is highly sought after both inside and outside IBM.

He was elected the 2018 chairman of the Board of Directors for ASQ and was former chairman of the board for the Power.org international technology consortium. Corbin received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and an MBA from The University of Texas in Austin, and he is a Certified Professional Engineer by the Texas State Board of Professional Engineers.
