Process capability is the process by which variation is studied. Process capability is generally thought about in terms of long-term variation. That is, the total inherent variation that can be expected from the process over a long period of time. Here you will learn about the various types of process capability studies and the circumstances under which to choose one type of study over another.

  • Learning Objectives
    • Select the times during the life of a process where a process capability study can be run
    • Match the three types of process capability studies to their respective characteristics
    • Determine whether a process is capable of meeting the specified tolerances by using Cp and Cpk
    • Place the five steps for evaluating the capability of a process in order
    • Identify the reasons for using potential process capability studies
    • Apply the five steps to evaluate the capability of processes described in case studies
  • Who Should Attend

Appropriate for both learners who have not previously studied the subject matter and those learners seeking a refresher course.
