Q&A
Question:
In addition to our team performance recognition programs,
we have implemented a program called "Far Exceeds" to
include recognition of the outstanding individual
performer. The candidates for Far Exceeds must be
nominated. There is a criteria for measurement and senior
management reviews the nominations. There is no limit to
the number of recognitions, and in three years there have
been about 7 to 12 Far Exceeds employees per year. We
have received feedback, through employee focus groups and
a satisfaction survey, that the program is not received
well. The issues appear to be fairness, whether an
employee not in management can meet the criteria,
deserving employees missing out on nominations, the
standards are too high, etc. As a result of the survey,
management will meet with their staff to make changes to
the program. I am interested in what the experts think of
our situation and what type of advice they have to
offer.
